A state of emergency has been declared in Tikhoretsk, southwestern Russia, following a Ukrainian drone attack on an ammunition depot that prompted the evacuation of approximately 1,200 residents. Krasnodar region Governor Veniamin Kondratiev announced the emergency measures on social media, emphasizing the need to organize relief efforts and address the incident swiftly.

Despite the chaos, Kondratiev confirmed that the drone attack "caused no casualties." The incident led to a significant fire, which necessitated the temporary evacuation of residents from the nearby village of Kuban. Authorities had initially evacuated over a thousand locals, prioritizing safety in light of the ongoing situation.

In addition to the events in Krasnodar, drone strikes were reported in the Tver district further north, but again, no injuries were noted. Footage shared on social media and by independent Russian outlets captured powerful explosions and thick clouds of smoke, although the authenticity of these images has not been verified by AFP.

Russian defense forces reported intercepting 101 Ukrainian drones during the overnight incident, including 18 over the Krasnodar region and 16 over the Sea of Azov. Other drones targeted the Tver region, disrupting traffic on a nearby highway, which resumed later in the day.

The Russian Defense Ministry also stated that it conducted retaliatory strikes targeting energy facilities in Ukraine that support military operations, escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict.
